General Membership Criteria
- Alignment with Mission and Vision: Members must demonstrate a commitment to the AMC’s mission and vision, showcasing this through previous work, advocacy, or expressed intent in their application.
- Agreement to Uphold Values: Members should agree to actively uphold the values of empathy/compassion, collaboration, inclusivity, vulnerability, strengths-based approaches, and respect in their interactions and contributions.
- Engagement Expectation: Members should be willing to engage in organizational activities, events, and initiatives that promote the AMC’s goals.
- Membership Fee: Consider what type of membership fee we require, which could be tiered based on membership type or waived for those unable to pay.
Criteria for Individual Members
- Personal Commitment: Individuals should demonstrate a personal commitment to advancing men’s health and well-being.
- Volunteer Contributions: Volunteer hours are encouraged but not required each year to support projects or events.
- Education and Awareness: Members are encouraged to participate in educational sessions to understand better the issues and effective approaches to men’s health.
Criteria for Organizational Members
- Organizational Alignment: Organizations should have missions or activities that align closely with or complement the nonprofit’s objectives.
- Resource Sharing: Organizations are encouraged to share resources, whether in-kind support, financial donations, or expert personnel for joint projects where applicable.
- Collaborative Projects: Encourage collaborative projects that leverage the strengths of the AMC and the organizational members to further the mission.
- Advocacy and Influence: Organizational members should be able to advocate for the AMC’s mission within their spheres of influence.
Values-Specific Criteria
- Empathy/Compassion: Members should actively understand and address all communities’ needs.
- Collaboration: Look for a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively towards shared goals.
- Inclusivity: Expect members to champion diversity and ensure everyone’s voice is heard.
- Vulnerability: Members should be open to sharing personal experiences and challenges as a means to connect and grow.
- Strengths-Based: Seek members who leverage individual and community strengths for better outcomes.
- Respect: Require a consistent demonstration of respect for the dignity and worth of all individuals.
